Worship Director/Pastor

About Fusion Community Church

Fusion Community Church is a vibrant, growing, Wesleyan church located in Cobleskill, New York. We are 45 minutes southwest of the capital district of Albany, NY, and about 3 hours north of New York City, 3 hours west of Boston, and 5 hours east of Buffalo. The church is led by Lead Pastor Andrew Fetter, who has served at the church for over 20 years, 17 as the Lead Pastor. Central to Fusion's identity is their mission to "Reach one more, at any cost!" Fusion has operated for 20 years under this focus and God has dramatically blessed the church to nearly triple in Sunday morning attendance, witnessing over 330 people aged 14 and older come forward to experience believer's baptism since 2012.

Church History and Growth

In that time, Fusion has undergone a lot of change. In 2012 the church left behind their small traditional church building and went mobile every Sunday for worship gatherings, renting the local high school auditorium and cafeteria for a year where the church experienced dramatic growth. Then they gathered for a few short months at the local SUNY College campus as renovations on a 15,000 square foot leased warehouse were completed, and they moved into that space in May of 2013. The growth continued and the church expanded in 2016 into an additional 3,000 sqft for office space and a fantastic nursery area, and yet again added another 1,200 sqft of dedicated student ministry space. In total, the building that serves as their ministry tool is 23,000 sqft.

Current Ministry Context

The church currently sees around 350–400 people onsite each Sunday in two worship experiences, as well as more than 100 others weekly participating online through the livestream, in a modern, experiential, and engaging style of worship. At the center of all they do is the heartbeat of reaching those far from God, the "One mores" and discipling into a lifelong relationship with Jesus, and with the church family. This focus influences every ministry of the church on Sundays and during the week, specializing in dynamic ministries to kids and teenagers.

Community Overview

Cobleskill is a small rural village of about 5,000 people that is the commercial hub of the 30,000 people that live in Schoharie County. It is an absolutely beautiful place to live, serve, and establish roots. Nestled in the foothills between the Adirondack mountains to the north, and Catskill Mountains to the south, the Schoharie valley is a stunning piece of God's creation. The village of Cobleskill does have a regional hospital, and is host to a State University of New York campus, with a focus on agriculture as the area is home to many farming families. As a community you will find many who were born and grew up here, as well as a large presence of others who have moved into the area to stay long term. The larger region around Cobleskill is warm and inviting, yet the soil for ministry is challenging, as is common across the northeast. Anyone considering this role of leadership must embrace the fact that ministry in this part of the United States is not easy or fast. This is one of the reasons why what God has done at Fusion is so remarkable over the last decade or so.

Church Culture

This church community is truly a family. Large enough that it is difficult to know everyone, but pretty diverse and intergenerational for a rural upstate area. So many young families call Fusion home. As a culture Fusion is a church that embraces risk and change, and is willing to experiment in ministry doing things we haven't done before in order to reach people we haven't reached before. In just the last year, two new midweek ministries launched with great success to engage children and their families. The church's ministry to young people is regularly identified as a strength by those who start to attend and find a home here at Fusion.

Position Overview

The church is currently seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship Director/Pastor to replace an outgoing Worship Director that grew up in the church and served in that role for 10 years, but is moving on to a new area of ministry that God is calling her to. The primary focus of this role will be to lead the worship arts on Sunday mornings, and oversee the current two worship teams and media teams in place. This person will be tasked with identifying, recruiting, developing, and adding new team members in every area. In addition to that the long term goals are to raise up, mentor, and release new worship leaders, and to assist with the creation and support of offering live worship in kids' ministry and youth ministry environments through others. It will be essential for the right candidate to have a deep personal life in Christ with the character to align with the church's overall mission and vision, and will get to collaborate with a team of 4 other pastors, and a half dozen other staff members as well.
