Back of the speaker: knobs on top, jacks under them, power switch near the bottom.

Setup

  1. Power the speakers

Plug the extension cord into the speaker on the cart, then plug in the second speaker that rides on top of the cart.

  2. Open the cabinet

Lift the top section to find the white key. Hold it against the cabinet over each door's lock and move it around until you hear a small click, then open the doors.

Put the key back right away. Lose it and you can't open anything.

  3. Grab what you need
    • Speaker link cable (strapped up)
    • Video + audio cable (lying inside)
    • Microphone in its bag (already on its XLR cable), only if needed
Inside the cabinet with cables, the remote and the bags laid neatly on the shelf

  4. Link the two speakers

Unstrap the link cable. Each end is labeled.

    • End marked CHANNEL 1 goes into Channel 1 on the back of one speaker.
    • Run the cable over and plug the end marked MIX OUT into Mix Out on the other speaker.

Each plug only fits one way. Don't force it. The speaker photo at the top shows where Channel 1 and Mix Out are.

  5. Connect video

Unhook the cable from inside the cabinet and plug it into the port on the side of the stage. The HDMI end goes into your computer.

Playing a DVD instead? The DVD player and its remote are in the cabinet below. Leave them in there.

  6. Turn on the projector

Point the projector remote and press and hold Power until you hear it kick on and see it light up. The remote tends to work better from one side of the room, so move if it doesn't respond.

  7. Lower the screen

Go up to the tech booth and press and hold the screen switch. Check that nothing is underneath before it comes down.

  8. Connect audio

Find the cable tagged HEADPHONE and plug it into your computer's headphone port.

Look for the orange Headphone tag.
  9. Turn on both speakers

Flip the power switch near the bottom of the back panel on each one. They're identical. See the speaker photo at the top.

  10. Set the volume

Use Channel 1 for the computer. It controls both speakers when the Mix Out cable is connected to the other speaker. You shouldn't need to touch the other speaker, but if it's too quiet, turn up its own knob.

Using the mic? It's already attached to its XLR cable. Pull it out of its bag, plug the cable's end into Channel 2, and use the Channel 2 knob for mic volume.

If something's off

Computer is plugged in but nothing shows on the screen

The projector is probably on the wrong input. It has HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. Switch to the other one with the remote.

One speaker is quieter than the other

Make sure the Mix Out cable is plugged into the other speaker. Without it, the knobs only control one speaker. If it's connected and still quiet, turn up the knob on the quieter speaker.

Put it all back
